CS2 Anubis Map Guide, Strategy and Statistics [Updated 2024]

Anubis-map-stats

In August 2023, Valve added Anubis to the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, showing off its visual changes. But aside from lighting changes, Anubis was largely untouched from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to CS2. Is it still a balanced map?

Anubis was initially introduced to CS:GO in 2020 and was quickly added to the Competitive map pool. A year later, however, it was removed from the game. It returned in August of 2022 as part of CS:GO’s 10th anniversary, replacing Dust II in the Competitive map pool a few months later.

The map was rather T-sided in CS:GO, with CT winning 46.3% of the time and T winning 53.7% of the time on the map. Terrorists had a bit of an advantage due to their spawn area. Is this still true in CS2?

Anubis CT vs T Win rate

Just like in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, CS2 has Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists fighting for control of the map (with T-side trying to plant a bomb and CT-side attempting to defend the point and stop it from being planted). The most important thing for each map in CS2 is for the T and CT-sides to both have an equal chance of winning a round.

During the first three quarters of 2024, Anubis was played 2,405 times in esports tournaments. At those events, CT won 23,295 rounds, and T-side won 28,214 rounds.

  • CT: 45.2%
  • T: 54.8%

Terrorists still have the advantage, maybe even a little more than they did in CS:GO. And again, it’s due to the T-side’s spawn area. Compared to other maps in the map pool, Anubis is still rather unbalanced.

Strategies for Anubis

Based on pro play and esports match outcomes gathered by Abios, we can gather some strategies that will help you excel on either side of Anubis.

If you’re on CT-Side, communication is key. Terrorists have a lot of opportunities to take over the site, so you need to have a game plan and a lot of cooperation. There are many access points for Terrorists to take advantage of, so become a master lurker. You need to gather as much intel about the enemy team’s positioning as you can so you can be prepared to counter it. Be careful around Canal & Bridge, which is where a lot of lurkers will get caught by Terrorists.

And if you’re T-Side, be on the lookout for lurkers. Create strategies focusing on Canal & Bridge, where you can quickly overtake enemies. Work together to come up with alternative pathways whenever you suspect a CT lurker is up ahead.
