Abios powers free-to-play gamification platform Clout with in-play and pre-match data fueling fan engagement in the esports community.
Boston-based Clout services fans across the United States with a community-based, free-to-play gaming platform. By providing fans with loyalty rewards and community features, they have made a platform for fans to engage with esports and gaming content, creating a more interactive viewership experience.
To expand their engagement capabilities to encompass Rocket League, Clout has utilised Abios’ comprehensive pre-match and in-play data to deliver engagement and community tools for the American Rocket League fanbase.
Challenge – A sprawling esports ecosystem with limited data
Clout offers fans engagement tools for a wide selection of the most popular esports titles, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike and VALORANT.
Data isn’t as readily available in Rocket League, making creating tools for the title harder. Nonetheless, the esports title has a growing tier-1 ecosystem. For 2025, the first Major will be played in Birmingham, and the RLCS boasts a prize pool of $5 million, likely attracting the attention of many pro teams and fans from around the world.
To reach and add value to these fans, Clout set out to find a data provider for Rocket League and decided to go with Abios because of its rich selection of not only post-match but also pre-match and in-play data.
Solution – A robust data solution for in-play and post-game data
By partnering with Abios, Clout uses rich pre-match data to fuel its DFS platform. Abios delivers historical performance data alongside vital pre-match information such as matchups, calendars and roster changes fueling the creation of engaging selections.
Jack Porter, Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships at Clout told us, “Abios has allowed us to create highly engaging Pick’em contests for every single RLCS Season. The high powered data has allowed our Rocket League fans to thrive in our gamified platform, earn rewards, and win exclusive prizes on our Marketplace.”
Results – A community-based esports platform for Rocket League
With access to the data to fuel its Rocket League vertical, Clout can deliver engaging DFS predictions to its audience across the US, adding value to their Rocket League viewership experience.
Jack Porter, Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships at Clout, said: “With few platforms covering Rocket League, we found a way to service this large, but left out, esports fan base with content prolonging the entertainment value of each match and adding a thrill to the viewership experience.
“We’re constantly working with fans to understand what questions we should be asking and what they find most interesting to guess on, whether that be goals scored, will there be overtime or the player with the most goals.“
“There is way more Rocket League contests then I could imagine on Clout” – end user
“I can now watch, play, and earn alongside my favorite RLCS teams” – end user
Jack Porter, Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships at Clout, said: “Working closely with the Abios team as well, we try to look at what data points are needed next and what we can add to improve the experience further. The esports ecosystem is constantly evolving and we’re happy to work with a partner that supports our needs in the space.”
Data is crucial to adding value to a community platform, whether it includes in-depth performance analysis, player scores or DFS platforms. By covering all major esports titles, Clout can find crossover audiences between titles and create a community spanning several titles, ultimately building a home for gaming and esports fandom, whether it be Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League or Rainbow 6 or much more.
