More and more information is coming out about Call of Duty: Warzone 2. While it shares the exact same concept and name as Call of Duty: Warzone, it’s actually an entirely different game made on a new engine. In fact, your progress in Warzone won’t carry over to Warzone 2.
So is it worth switching to Call of Duty: Warzone 2?
Possible changes coming to Warzone 2
Loadout
Warzone 2 leaks suggest that it will differ from the original Warzone due to how the game is handling loadouts. Loadouts will be more difficult to obtain thanks to “strongholds,” insider NeroCinema said in a YouTube video.
Basically, players will have to complete some type of challenge or action in order to grab weapons. After infiltrating a building, you may have to kill an AI enemy or defuse a bomb in order to access the loadout.
This is even more of a challenge if what NeroCinema says is true, since players apparently won’t drop in with armor.
This change isn’t confirmed just yet, but players have complained in the past when Warzone developers made it more difficult to get their desired loadout.
Swimming
The new Warzone 2 map has been leaked as well, showing a very large area that’s all water. This would coincide with yet another leak that pointed towards swimming in the battle royale.
It’s currently unknown exactly how swimming would work in Warzone 2. It’s a bit of a concern for players that don’t want Warzone 2 to feel like Fortnite.
Is Warzone 2 worth playing?
Not enough is known about this battle royale to truly know the answer to this question just yet. Developers have, however, admitted that the state of the current Warzone is embarrassing. This means they are aware of the game’s bugs, cheaters, and other shortcomings. So will it be changed in Warzone 2?
This is the hope.
There are some concerns, on the other hand, that Warzone 2 may be changing for the worst. The swimming has been met with scepticism since it seems to take away from the competitive nature of Warzone (and Modern Warfare 2)

The Call of Duty esports currently revolves around the main titles. This means it will eventually feature Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. How will swimming impact the competitive nature of the game? Won’t players in the water be sitting ducks?
While new gameplay mechanics can be entertaining for viewers, taking away from the competitive integrity of an esports can be a huge problem. The RNG in Fortnite is what started to kill the game for streamers and competitors. There’s a reason items are taken out of Super Smash Bros tournaments. And there may be a reason Warzone 2 will never be an esports title.
