2016 NA LCS Summer Split will be a test run alongside the EU LCS to determine whether a Best-of-Two or a Best-of-Three format is the best for the future seasons of the LCS. NA will be running a Best-of-Three format for their double round robin regular season.
In the NA LCS, the top seven teams of the 2016 NA LCS Spring Split and the three qualified team from the NA LCS Summer Promotion tournament will be battling it out in the NA LCS studio in Los Angeles, California for a $ 100,000 total prize pool and to earn a spot in the 2016 World Championship
The bracket consists of two rounds: The Elimination Round and The Qualifying Round. In the qualifying round the ninth place LCS team will face the Spring Challenger Series Champions in the qualifying round and the tenth place LCS team will face the second place team from Challenger in the elimination round, the winner of this match will progress into the qualifying round where they will face the eight place LCS team. The losers of the two qualifying matches will be seeded into the lower bracket where they will fight for the last remaining spot in the LCS
The League of Legends Championship Series begins with a regular season in a league format and at the end the top 6 teams will be seeded into a Playoffs bracket.
In the regular season, the 10 qualified teams will do battle in a Best-of-Three Double Round Robin, that means that they will be playing each team twice in Best-Of-Three matches.
The playoffs will be played out in a single-elimination bracket with best-of-five matches, where reseeding is taking place between the quarter-finals and the semi-finals. The 1st and 2nd place teams from the regular season is seeded directly into the semi-finals where as the 3rd to 6th place is seeded into the quarter-finals.
